Employees Not Represented By a Union

Regular full-time general category employees shall earn sick leave at a rate of eight (8) hours (except for the month of July for Community Service Officer’s who work the 4/2 schedule) for each month of employment during which they work the majority of their scheduled hours for a total of 96 hours (12 days) per calendar year. Employees may accumulate a maximum of 960 hours (120 days) of sick leave while employed by the City.  Employees retiring from City service under the provisions of the WRS receive a sick-leave payout benefit, which is 50% of accrued sick leave with a maximum eligibility of 528 hours.

Protective service nonrepresented regular full-time employees do not accrue sick leave and may be eligible for unlimited sick leave with full pay for up to one year, which is subject to review.

Employees Represented by American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME Local 71 Transit)

Full-time employees may accumulate one hundred twenty (120) days of sick leave and in addition may accumulate another twelve (12) days within a calendar year.  None of the said twelve (12) days can be carried over into the next year except in the case of a continuing illness. One-half of any of these additional days which have not been used during the year shall be recorded in a separate sick leave bank. Sick leave usage in subsequent years shall be first from the current year's accumulation, second from the sick leave bank, and third from the original one hundred twenty (120) days.  Employees retiring from City service under the provisions of the WRS receive a sick-leave payout benefit, which is 50% of accrued sick leave with a maximum eligibility of 528 hours.

Employees Represented by Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU)

Full-time employees may accumulate one hundred twenty (120) days of sick leave and in addition may accumulate another twelve (12) days within a calendar year. None of the said twelve (12) days can be carried over into the next year except in the case of a continuing illness. One-half of any of these additional days which have not been used during the year shall be recorded in a separate sick leave bank. Employees Represented by International Association of Firefighters (IAFF)

Unlimited sick leave with full pay for up to one year, subject to review.

Employees Represented by Kenosha Professional Police Association (KPPA)

Each employee shall be granted sick leave with full pay not to exceed twelve (12) months in duration. If an officer cannot report for duty due to illness or injury, he/she must notify the Department prior to the start of their shift. A review of the employee’s sick leave may be held by Police Administration and the KPPA in the event that said illness or injury exceeds six (6) or twelve (12) continuous months.
