    Marching bands, floats, local dignitaries and more kick off the Independence Day celebration with a parade through the heart of the city. More than 10,000 spectators line the two-mile route, which begins at 22nd Avenue and 63rd Street in the Uptown district.

    at HarborPark

    The Mad Bomber pyrotechnics company promises another spectacular show on July 4 as the Festival Foods Fireworks light up the sky over the lakefront. Plan to arrive early in the day to stake out a premium spot with your blanket or lawn chairs. Fireworks are staged at Celebration Place east of the public museums on First Avenue. Pack a picnic or choose from a selection of hot, fresh food from local vendors. Admission is FREE.
