Civil War Museum
Bring history alive with a visit to the Civil War Museum. The Civil War Museum focuses on the role of six Upper Middle West states (Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan) and tells the personal stories of
men, women, and children before, during, and after the Civil War. The main exhibit, The Fiery Trial, takes visitors back in history through state-of-the-art technology and interactive exhibits
Reflecting on the theme, Solidarity of Soldiers, the Veterans Memorial Gallery features a scene of Civil War soldiers huddled around a campfire under a twilight sky. Surrounding them are life-size soldiers from the Revolutionary War to present day conflicts. These soldiers share a common sense of duty, patriotism, and honor, no matter where or when they serve or have served our nation. Around the gallery perimeter are displays of artifacts and memorabilia from each war.
The Veterans Terrace on the exterior of the Civil War Museum surrounds the Gallery. The bricks in the terrace honor veterans of all wars.
