A Guide to Inspections
Inspections are performed based upon the details of the construction
requirements contained within the approved plans. If the building
complies, this process leads to a final approval; and, a Certificate
of Occupancy when required.
Inspections include structural, concrete, electric, mechanical,
plumbing, energy, building, and drainage. Buildings are inspected
for compliance with building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical,
energy and zoning codes. Fire and health codes are administered
by the Kenosha Fire Department and Kenosha County Health Department.

After issuance of a building permit, inspections will be performed
based upon the details of the construction requirements. Some inspections
are prerequisite to others. It is the responsibility of the owner
or general contractor to ensure the proper sequence of inspections.
Electric, plumbing, and mechanical inspections may be requested
only by the permitted contractor to perform the work. Completion
of the inspection phase leads to a Certificate of Occupancy.
Notification:
Inspectors leave correction notices on the building site when an
inspection fails.
