COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
FOR THE CITY OF KENOSHA:  2035

Section 62.23(2) and (3) of the Wisconsin Statutes requires cities to prepare a "master plan," or "comprehensive plan," as identified in Section 66.1001 of the Wisconsin Statutes. Official mapping, subdivision regulation, City zoning ordinances, and zoning of shorelands or wetlands in shorelands are required to be consistent with the comprehensive plan. The City of Kenosha has prepared a draft plan fulfilling this requirement entitled, "Comprehensive Plan for the City of Kenosha: 2035." The "Comprehensive Plan for the City of Kenosha: 2035" follows several years of work by the City of Kenosha, in cooperation with Kenosha County, participating local governments and the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (SEWRPC).

The comprehensive plan addresses the nine (9) elements required under section 66.1001(2) of the Wisconsin Statues including: Issues and Opportunities; Housing; Transportation; Utilities and Community Facilities; Agricultural, Natural Resources and Cultural Resources; Economic Development; Intergovernmental Cooperation; Land Use; and Implementation.

The comprehensive planning process provides for a number of opportunities for the public to view the comprehensive plan and to ask questions. The public also has an opportunity to ask questions and/or provide written comments on proposed amendments (see below).
