Important Information.
  Required in the City for bowling alleys, pool halls, skating rinks, shooting galleries and public dances. Also for businesses offering the following amusement devices (video games, rides, pool tables):

• 10 or combination of 10 amusement devices.
• 5 or more pool tables.
• 6 devices combined with 4 pool tables.
• 7 devices combined with 3 pool tables.
• 8 devices combined with 2 pool tables.
• 9 devices combined with 1 pool table. Application required, including a form to report the applicant's police record.

Requires inspections from Neighborhood Services & Inspections, Kenosha Fire Department and County Health Division. Needs approval of City Licensing/Permit Committee and the Common Council.

To place a banner, decoration or obstruction in the public right-of-way (e.g., a sidewalk)
(City Code of General Ordinances, 5.045).

Who May Apply?
  Individuals or businesses.

  • Who May Apply
  Individuals (bartenders, store clerks, waiters, waitresses), to sell beer and/or other alcoholic beverages for a licensed establishment (City Code of General Ordinances, 10.00).
  • Is A Fee Required?
  Yes. $75.

Proof of completion of the Beverage Server Course required. Applicant may apply prior to class completion. Police Dept. will perform a records check on the individual after an application is filed. Licensing/Permit Committee may review application. Requires approval by the Common Council.

SPECIAL CLASS "B" FERMENTED MALT BEVERAGE (BEER)/ SPECIAL "CLASS B" WINE LICENSE
  • Purpose of License
 

To sell wine or beer at an event such as a festival or fish fry, for churches or other non-profit organizations (Wisconsin State Statutes, Chapter 125 and City Code of General Ordinances, 10.06).

  • Who May Apply?
 

Bonafide clubs, fair associations, agriculture societites that have been in existence for at least six months and to veterans organization

  • Is A Fee Required?
 

Yes. $10 per event.

  • Expiration Date
 

No more than 9 days/year, for beer, any number of events, for wine only two events.

  • Important Information
 

Requires application and approval of the Common Council. If the event is to be held on school premises, written consent of the school principal is needed.


WHOLESALE BEER LICENSE
  • Purpose of License
  To sell and distribute beer and fermented malt beverages to holders of a Class "B" Beer or a Class "A" Beer License.
  • Who May Apply?
  Individuals, partnerships, corporations or limited liability companies intending to sell beer and fermented malt beverages to holders of a Class "B" Beer or a Class "A" Beer License.
  • Is A Fee Required?
  Yes. Fee is $25. A publication fee is also charged to the applicant.
  • Expiration Date
  June 30.
  • Important Information.
  Requires application and approval of the Licensing/Permit Committee and Common Council.
Individual, both partners, or agent of the corporation of limited liability must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin for a minimum of 90 days prior to the date of application.

  To serve beer, liquor or wine in an outside area adjacent to a business licensed to sell beer/liquor (City Code of General Ordinances, 10.075)
  • Who May Apply?
  Properly zoned licensed taverns or restaurants.
  • Is A Fee Required?
  Yes, $50.

  June 30.

CABARET
  • Purpose of License
  To provide entertainment at establishments which sell beer and/or other alcoholic beverages (City Code of General Ordinances, 10.07).
  • Who May Apply?
  Businesses licensed to sell beer and/or other alcohol beverages who are also providing entertainment or who have hired another source to provide entertainment.
  • Is A Fee Required?
  Yes. $200 for annual license or $50 per day.
  • Expiration Date
  June 30. "Daily" permits may also be purchased.

CARNIVAL
  • Purpose of License.
  To hold a carnival having more than two (2) rides and/or games of skill or chance and/or incidental live entertainment ( City Code of General Ordinances, 12.03).
  • Who May Apply?
  Carnival operator.
  • Is A Fee Required?
  Yes. $50 per event.
  • Expiration Date
  Varies.
  • Important Information
  Application and Certificate of Insurance required. Needs approval by City Public Safety & Welfare Committee and the Common Council (or Mayor). Requires approval by Parks Commission if held in City park.

CAT LICENSE
  • Purpose of License
  To own, harbor or keep a cat (City Code of General Ordinances, 14.01).
  • Who May Apply?
  Individuals who own, harbor or keep a cat in the City.
  • Is A Fee Required?
  Yes. $10 per year if cat is spayed or neutered. $25 if not spayed or neutered. Additional $5 fee if license is not purchased within 30 days of ownership of cats more than 5 months old.
  • Expiration Date
  Initial expiration coincides with rabies expiration year. Subsequent renewals (terms) are for three years.
  • Important Information.
  Requires written proof of current rabies vaccination including rabies expiration.

CHRISTMAS TREE
  • Purpose of License
  To sell Christmas trees (City Code of General Ordinances, 13.10).
  • Who May Apply?
 

Businesses/individuals.
Applications are only accepted prior to December 1.

  • Is A Fee Required?
  Yes. $40. An additional $40 refundable deposit is required for applicants who do not own a business in the City of Kenosha or do not pay personal property tax.

  January 3.

CIGARETTE & TOBACCO PRODUCTS

  Anyone who owns, harbors or keeps a dog in the City.

HORSE DRAWN VEHICLE

Applicant must be fingerprinted and photographed at the Kenosha Police Department. The Police Department will process taxi driver applicants through fingerprinting and photographs only from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM Monday through Friday. Requires approval of Licensing/Permit Committee and the Common Council.

  • Purpose of License
  To operate a towing business which tows at the request of the Kenosha Police Department (City Code of General Ordinances, 13.12).
NOTE: As of City View publication date of 2-23-2000, the City is overquota on towing licenses. Therefore, no new licenses are available. However, an existing license may be transferred to a new owner.
  • Who May Apply?
  Towing businesses which tow at the request of the Kenosha Police Department.
  • Is A Fee Required?
 

Yes, $100.

  • Expiration Date

  Application required, including indemnity and hold harmless agreement and a surrender form.
